Becoming a Scholar

 Eligible women faculty and graduate candidates in engineering and applied sciences are welcomed to apply from all over Iraq. The IWFF program provides fellowships of up to one year at prestigious universities as post-doctoral or visiting scholars, focused on upgrading knowledge to international standards, along with teaching and research skills. The program includes up to two months English language training, and offers US company internships, depending on the field of interest. The program is funded though multiple sources and administered in Iraq by AMIDEAST.   Fellowship recipients will be selected on the basis of their applications and interviews with a selection panel.

Requirements for Faculty and Graduates

  • Currently a qualified university faculty or teaching staff member in engineering and applied sciences, with university references
  • Meet minimum English proficiency requirement (550 TOEFL or equivalent ITP), tests to be offered to applicants who meet initial screening requirements
  • Be nationals of Iraq currently living in Iraq
  • Hold a Master’s degree or higher
  • Be available to travel to the U.S. for up to one year beginning in July
  • Requirements for Graduateapplicants:
  • Completed 12 years of schooling,  with graduate degree in particular field of interest.  Provide official transcripts for all secondary schools, and universities attended
  • Personal Essay
  • Two letters of recommendations
  • Official SAT or ACT results, tests to be offered to applicants who meet initial screening requirements
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS results, tests to be offered to applicants who meet initial screening requirements
  • Be nationals of Iraq currently living in Iraq

March – Ensure that application for admission is complete: application, transcript, SATI and TOEFL results, essay, passport copy, letters of recommendation, application fee

May – Recommendations and Final selection made by US universities and companies
